Path to 9/11 has aired.
Sep. 9th, 2006 08:00 pmMy boycott has begun.
How the boycott affects me, personally.
I indulged myself this weekend and recorded my soaps, because there was a possibility of ABC caving.
Oh well, a decades-old habit is being broken, cold turkey now. Good-bye, Erica, Vicki, & Luke. I can watch my fourteen years worth of tapes, I suppose.
Bye-bye, Good Morning America. I started watching it when I was stationed in Munich. Joan & Charlie were on AFN around noon and were my taste of home, and I've watched The View from its first day. So long. Meredith starts on Today on Wednesday.
I'll really miss Charlie Gibson. He's been my "choice for news" since 1990. I'll watch Olbermann on MSNBC.
I still have my annual pass to Disneyland. It's already paid for through the end of May. I wrote Disney to say I wouldn't spend another penny there, but I can still go to the park for a few months and not BUY anything. I have a hundred or so trader pins. Maybe I can use them to get the new releases. After I run out, that's the end of that hobby. (I was at DL on August 27th for only one and a half hours and spent $107.63.)
I still have comic books, but no more "Uncle Scrooge".
My every-few-years visit with my Aunt in Orlando usually involves a few days at Disneyworld. I haven't been to Universal since 1992 and I've never been to Seaworld. It's time. (but no more figgy? whimper)
I went grocery shopping this weekend. I used to buy the Kroger brand snack size of cheese. It's just been phased out and replaced with Disney packaged cheese. I bought a pound block of Land o' Lakes and I'll slice it myself.
I used to buy almost every new Stitch plush that came out. No more additions to the toy box, at least not of Experiment 626. I can still get Warner-based Harry Potter toys and the British edition of Book Seven. (Scholastic encouraged people to watch the movie and produced tie-in study materials. They're on the list.)
This is a boycott that will change the focus of my leisure time in a major way.
But I'll do it, because I'm really, really PISSED!
